Looks like another one of Barbie’s Kens has superb taste.
On Tuesday, Canadian actor Simu Liu appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live!, greeting the audience in a head-to-toe Zegna outfit that looked fresh off the runway. The neutral look included a white linen overshirt, a light beige mélange Oasi cashmere crewneck, off white cotton-and-wool double pleat pants, and off-white Triple Stitch sneakers. The star completed the outfit with a golden Rolex Yacht-Master that helped balance out the monochrome ensemble.
Yacht-Masters are still some of the Swiss watchmaker’s best-selling models to date. Liu’s 18-karat gold edition, known as ref. 16628, is no longer produced. The 40 mm watch features the series’s signature bidirectional rotating bezel next to a white dial with black hour markers surrounded in 18-karat yellow gold with Tritium hands. The Rolex Yacht-Master
The timepiece also seems to be a favorite of David and Victoria Beckham. Thanks to English soccer player’s recent Netflix documentary release and the surge of Beckham-mania that followed, images of the sports icon and Posh Spice wearing matching Yacht-Masters in their 1998 engagement photos have re-emerged, sending the horological world abuzz.
And as for Liu, landing the lead role in Marvel’s Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings put him on the map. The film released in 2021, but some of the 34-year-old’s earliest acting credits date back to 2014. Since the movie’s release, Liu has starred in Barbie—2023’s largest worldwide film release and the highest grossing film in Warner Bros.’s 100-year history—playing one of nine Kens in the flick alongside names such as Margot Robbie, Ryan Gosling, Will Farrell, and singer Dua Lipa. You’ll also reportedly catch Liu in the hotly anticipated Avengers: Secret Wars in 2027, so more sleek watches may be coming our way soon.
