This follows the successful voting phase, where the amendment secured 27 out of 34 possible votes, marking an 82.35% consensus. The activation is projected to take place on November 27.
Features of the XRPL Upgrade
The “fixNFTokenRemint” amendment joins a list of forthcoming amendments, such as Automated Market Maker (AMM), Clawback, XRPFees, and 53 others, aiming to enrich the XRPL platform. This amendment, in particular, will enhance the NFT functionality on XRPL by addressing issues tied to NFT sequence numbers. The amendment suggests a crucial tweak to generating these numbers to mitigate the risk of reminting an NFT with an identical sequence, thereby avoiding a potential collision scenario.
Introducing Account Deletion Restriction
A significant addition to the amendment is a new account deletion restriction. This feature curbs the reminting of NFTs with matching sequences by introducing a “AccountRoot” field and a constant “FirstNFTSequence”. This upgraded capability will enable developers to calculate a newly minted NFT sequence using the formula “FirstNFTSequence + MintedNFTokens”, where “MintedNFTokens” is incremented by one after each mint.
Additional Upgrades in the XRPL Landscape
Simultaneously, the XRPL community is observing the progress of another necessary amendment, namely the fixReducedOffersV1. Now in a 14-day activation countdown, this amendment aims to adjust rounding issues leading to blockages in order books caused by reduced offers impacted by the rounding of remaining amounts. Users with rippled v1.11.0 or older are advised to upgrade to more recent versions to handle the new functionalities efficiently.
