The Emirates Down Syndrome Association (EDSA) has received a remarkable donation of 300,000 AED from Carl Runefelt, CEO of The Moon Group (https://moongroup.com/). Mr. Runefelt’s gesture reflects his commitment to improving the lives of individuals with Down Syndrome, inspired by his personal connection to the cause. EDSA (https://edsa.ae/), recognized for its mission to “Unlock Hidden Potential”, stands out as a beacon of excellence and empowerment for people of Determination in the region.

Under the leadership of Dr. Manal Jaroor, the center has established its position as a pioneering institution dedicated to educating and empowering children with Down Syndrome. Through its programs, the center teaches essential skills, promotes independence, and cultivates friendships among its members. Furthermore, EDSA actively prepares these remarkable individuals for future careers, ensuring their meaningful contributions to society.

Expressing her gratitude, EDSA Chairperson Dr. Manal Jaroor said, “I would like to extend our sincere gratitude to Mr. Carl Runefelt for this generous support that has enabled the association to move forward in enhancing the services and supporting its events and activities. We’re grateful for this wonderful humanitarian gesture to support people with Down Syndrome and promote their full inclusion into society.”

Dr. Jaroor added: “Since its establishment in 2006, the Emirates Down Syndrome Association has always been committed to raising community awareness of the remarkable abilities and potentials of people with Down Syndrome, empowering them and enabling them to reach new horizons in line with our wise leadership directions and the national policy to empower people of determination.”

The contribution made by Carl Runefelt will play a significant role in enhancing the capabilities of the EDSA foundation. The allocated funds will be directed towards enhancing essential facilities, further equipping them with the necessary resources and state-of-the-art equipment.

A significant aspect of this contribution involves strengthening EDSA’s presence across social media platforms. This strategic initiative aims to increase public awareness and spotlight the positive influence that the center brings to the lives of children with Down Syndrome throughout the United Arab Emirates.

Carl Runefelt expressed his dedication, stating, “My little brother was born with Down Syndrome, so I have first-hand experience with the struggles that he and our family have faced. My little brother was also born with a heart condition and had cancer early in his life. People have no clue what our family has been through. So, my mission now is to help children worldwide through donations and awareness.”
