Taki Games, a prominent Polygon-based mobile gaming network, has joined forces with Web3 tokenisation platform Smart Layer to distribute a mini-game entitled ‘Pac Cat’ – based on the latter’s derivative NFT collection Smart Cats – via their Bored Button app in January 2024.
The flagship app of the Taki Games network, Bored Button’s engaging games have helped it to amass over 5 million downloads to date. Pac Cat will see each Smart Cats owner interact with their collectibles in an experience inspired by the likes of Tamagotchi and Pac-Man.
Innovating Web3 Accessibility in Mobile Gaming
Taki Games and Smart Layer are looking to transform their $100 billion mobile gaming industry by harnessing Polygon’s network, Rally Protocol’s wallet SDK and their own expertise to make Web3 more accessible to gamers, merging gamer loyalty services with blockchain technology.
The Smart Cats collection, from which the Pac Cat mini-game draws inspiration, employs unique Executable NFT (xNFT) technology, allowing for NFTs to execute code and become applications and games in-and-of themselves – a pioneering development from Smart Layer, and the first on any Ethereum-compatible chain. Each Smart Cat is a stand-alone Tamagotchi-inspired game, with users interacting with it via the token’s interface.
The TAKI-nomics Economy
By playing Taki Games’ ever-expanding catalogue of free-to-play games, users earn the native $TAKI token, rewarding players for their engagement. To avoid the hyperinflation that occurs in many Play-to-Earn Web3 experiences, for every $TAKI distributed to players, the Taki Games team buys back and burns an equal number. This creates a deflationary tokenomics system that they’ve labelled Takinomics, allowing the team to incentivise its users by creating a value bridge from the lucrative gaming market via their token.
Weiwei Geng, CEO of Taki Games, expressed excitement about the partnership, stating, “Executable NFTs bring immense potential to what can be achieved on blockchain. Having Smart Layer as a partner opens new horizons for us to build unprecedented experiences for players on Polygon with xNFTs.”
