There’s no ignoring a stunner, which is why Apple founder Steve Jobs’s superyacht, Venus, is accustomed to turning heads wherever it goes. The yacht, owned by the late tycoon’s wife, Laurene Powell Jobs, worth $13.8 billion, was recently spotted in the beautiful Gold Coast, Australia. This idyllic city is famed for its long sandy beaches, surfing spots, and gastronomic paradise, making it an absolute treat for someone with a $170 million yacht.

The 256-ft-long Feadship beauty features among the most technologically advanced and luxurious megayachts worldwide. This massive luxury vessel, completed after Steve Jobs’s death, was spotted in Cairns last year, where the Venus superyacht dwarfed every other boat in the harbor. However, it’s not just its size that makes Venus a stellar ship. The custom yacht boasts a high-tech interior featuring Apple products, including 27-inch iMacs to navigate the wheelhouse.
Designed by legendary French designer Philippe Starck, Venus features an unusual shape, concealed antennae, and an unprecedented amount of glass used throughout the length of all main deck staterooms. The ship, which can be controlled with an iPhone-like device, sleeps 12 guests in 6 well-designed cabins, served by a crew of 22. The decks are dotted with several lounge spaces and alfresco dining under a canopy. From a tender garage to a beach club and a top speed of 22 knots, Venus is impressive on every front (and back).
Tragically, Mr. Jobs never got to sail on the yacht, which he commissioned in 2008 as part of their summer tradition to spend time on a luxury vessel. Starck also shared about the 256-footer in a Vanity Fair interview, saying, ‘There will never again be a boat of that quality. Because never again will two madmen come together to accomplish such a task. There’ll never again be so much creativity, rigor, and above all, philosophy applied to a material creation. It was not a yacht that Steve and I were constructing; we were embarked on a philosophical action implemented according to a quasi-religious process. We formed a single brain with four lobes.’
The boat’s interior has never been revealed, but Venus is quite an attention-grabber owing to its exterior. The vessel is making the most of the incredible Australian milieu and is believed to have spent a number of months cruising Queensland waters and visiting Pacific islands, including New Caledonia and Fiji. Whether the owners are aboard the Feadship pleasure craft is unknown.
