Pudgy Toys has opened licensing for its second chapter, facilitated by the beta release of Pudgy Penguins’ IP licensing platform, OverpassIP. This new platform aims to streamline the licensing process for NFTs, providing holders with opportunities to transform their characters into toys or other forms.
Introducing OverpassIP
OverpassIP is a licensing platform designed to scale up the licensing of NFT IP transparently on the blockchain. The latest Chapter 2 initiative transforms over eighty Pudgy Penguins and Lil Pudgys into a range of products, including plush toys, action figures, clip-on plushies, and surprise figurines.
Through this initiative, Pudgy Penguin and Lil Pudgy holders can submit their characters for review and potential licensing opportunities. The beta version of OverpassIP is currently exclusive to Pudgy Penguin and Lil Pudgy holders. Still, the public launch will open up more opportunities for a broader range of communities who want to participate.
Interested holders can participate in the licensing process by submitting their characters through a detailed instructional video on the platform. The submission period is open for 14 days, giving holders ample time to prepare and submit their Pudgy Penguins.
The first quarter of 2024 will see a selective approach to choosing Pudgy Penguins for licensing deals. Submitting an NFT doesn’t guarantee selection but places it in a pool for potential selection, aligning with the need for new toy products. The overarching goal appears to be establishing Overpass as the go-to Web3 solution for NFT licensing.
Simplifying the NFT IP Licensing Process
One of the biggest challenges NFT IP holders face is the complicated and often expensive licensing process. OverpassIP seeks to change that by streamlining the process, making it easier for holders to license their NFTs with just a few clicks.
The new licensing opportunity is a potential milestone for Pudgy Penguin holders, allowing them to participate in partnerships and company projects. It showcases the diverse uses of NFT IP and aligns the interests of both holders and brands.
Furthermore, OverpassIP introduces Pudgy Rods as a multiplier mechanism for certain licensing deals. With this mechanism, the value of the multiplier will vary depending on the deal offered by The Igloo Company. The specifics of the multiplier are detailed in each deal summary and automatically calculated during payout. This adds a layer of value and potential earnings for holders.
In May, Pudgy Penguins launched their new “Phygital” Toy Collection & Experience on Amazon, generating huge excitement. The collection achieved over $500,000 in sales within the first two days alone. Finally, with the main launch of OverpassIP set to include a wider range of communities and over 200 characters, the future of Pudgy Penguins licensing looks bright.
