Taylor police are working hard to identify two men who walked into a department store, and then ran out a short time later with thousands worth of jewelry in hand.
The theft occurred at about 6 p.m. on Feb. 12 at JCPenney in Southland Center, 23000 Eureka Road.
According to police, the two men entered the store and appeared as if they were interested customers.
The two waited until the employee at the counter was preoccupied helping another customer, and then they reached over the counter and grabbed fists full of jewelry, including a multitude of gold charms.
Police said they appeared to be lingering around waiting for the right moment.
This appears to be the first time store employees have had an encounter with the two.
Both are white and wore sunglasses on the day of the robbery.
One man has a medium build and was wearing a blue hoodie with half blue and half white sleeves, and his cap appears to have a Detroit Red Wings emblem on the front.
His partner is a little heavier and wore torn whitewashed blue jeans ripped at the knees.
He wore a blue jean jacket coat that had white sleeves.
The TPD is seeking the public’s assistance in identifying the duo.
