However, when the mansion failed to find a buyer, it was temporarily taken off the market by the Hains family. The property underwent a cosmetic revamp and later relaunched with a professionally styled suite of designer furniture set against freshly painted white walls.
It’s understood the recent deal was handled by listing agent Marshall White Stonnington director Marcus Chiminello alongside Kay & Burton director Andrew Sahhar, who introduced the as-yet unidentified buyer. Meanwhile, transactional adviser Mark Wizel, of Wizel Property Group acted on behalf of the estate.
While all parties declined to comment on the deal specifics, Mr Chiminello said the deal was driven by both head and heart.
“It was more than a commercial process and decision, it was very much an emotional one to ensure the appropriate custodian purchased Albany Road.” Mr Chiminello said.
