The South Yarra purchase adds to Mr Bastas’ grand Toorak base, which he purchased for $17 million in 2012 from prominent Melbourne investment manager Ron Dewhurst. The Landale Road mansion has been dubbed the “Wayne Residence” for its Batcave-like subterranean garage accessed by a door that opens out of the grand home’s tennis court.
Mr Bastas, who was 105th on last year’s Rich List with an estimated fortune of $1.32 billion, recently expanded his healthcare and beauty business VidaCorp with the $60 million acquisition of beauty brands Nude By Nature and Makeup Cartel.
