Malaysia’s billionaire Sultan Ibrahim has become the world’s first private owner of the Hongqi L5, China’s most luxurious and expensive car.

At a meeting with Chinese Ambassador to Malaysia Ouyang Yujing on April 12, the king unveiled his latest retro-styled vehicle, according to The Straits Times.

Produced by the FAW Group since 2013, the L5 represents the zenith of luxury in Chinese automotive design, with a price tag of five million yuan (US$703,000).

Celebrated for its superior craftsmanship and advanced technology, the vehicle stands as a testament to prestigious status.

The Sun reports that Sultan Ibrahim took to social media to highlight the productive dialogue between Malaysia and China, underscoring the importance of maintaining strong bilateral ties.

“China holds a pivotal position as a global economic powerhouse and a key trading partner for Malaysia,” remarked the king in an April 12 social media update.
