Just in time for the summer season, one billionaire has taken delivery of his brand new megayacht, which also happens to be his third Lurssen build and his third Kismet. Any day is a good day to be a billionaire, for sure, but today is especially good for Shahid Khan.

Kismet means “fate” or “destiny” in Turkish, and the name holds such a special meaning to Pakistani-American billionaire Shahid Khan that he’s “recycled” it for all the superyachts he’s owned. This is his third Kismet and his third collaboration with prestigious shipyard Lurssen, and it’s also the biggest, most expensive, and most exquisite so far.

This Kismet is also in very select company with the world’s biggest superyachts, thanks to a length on water of 400 feet (122 meters) and an interior volume of 4,900 GT. With a reported price tag of $360 million, it’s not the number one most expensive in the world. But it’s not cheap, either.

Last we heard about Kismet, it had been listed for charter with Cecil Wright, with a going rate of €3 million ($3.2 million at the current exchange rate) per week, not including expenses. At the time, the megayacht was still on sea trials and hadn’t been delivered to the owner.

It has now: one trade publication confirms that the delivery has taken place and that the vessel is now on its maiden journey to Troon, Scotland. Sea trials took place off the coast of Kiel, Germany, and have been completed successfully.

The hull was launched in 2021, some three years after it was commissioned, back when it was still called Project Jag, and ownership was only a matter of guessing. Moran Yachts represented the owner and oversaw the constriction as yacht construction manager.

The same media outlet confirms now that Shahid Khan is the new owner.

With an estimated net worth of $12.1 billion in 2024, Khan is a longtime Lurssen client. His first Kismet, which he had delivered in 2007, was a 197-foot (60-meter) superyacht that was replaced by the second one in 2014: the 315-foot (96-meter) $260 million superyacht that now sails by Whisper.

By comparison, the third Kismet is an upgrade in every possible way. It offers accommodation for 14 guests and as many as 40 crew and boasts incredible amenities ranging from an underwater viewing lounge to four pools, helipad, a double-deck owner’s suite that lives like a self-sufficient private space, packed garages and diving gear, and the most lavish of finishes and private spaces.

Even though it’s been listed for charter for nearly a month, we still don’t have proper photos of the interior of Kismet. That’s not to say that renders aren’t enough to form an opinion of the interiors penned by Reymond Langton Design, now on its third collaboration with the Khan family.

Then again, whoever has $3.2 million to spend for a week of sailing on Kismet probably knows one or two people who can get them photos of the interior.
