Summary

  • The Lincoln Mark LT Raptor is a fictional luxury pickup truck based on the Ford F-150, which could offer a capable chassis and off-roading wheels, to go with its powerful engine.
  • Render artist Abimelec Arellano has created a concept design for a Lincoln Raptor, combining the luxury vibe of the Mark LT with the rugged off-roading features of the SVT Raptor.
  • The concept design features a distinctive front end with a hood design and headlamps borrowed from the SVT Raptor, along with a raised ride height and off-road tires for added capability.

There is something intriguing about a pickup that can do it all – such as this Lincoln Mark LT Raptor. Based on the Ford F-150, the original Mark LT went through one generation in the US before getting discontinued due to poor sales – though it lived on for a second generation in Mexico only from 2010-2014.

The luxury truck is instantly recognizable as a Lincoln product, and as it was essentially a badge-engineered F-150 it came with a capable chassis and the tried-and-tested Coyote under its hood.

Back in 2010, the Ford F-150 SVT Raptor offered the rugged off-roading package. Imagine if there could have been some kind of overlap between the models, resulting in this: render artist Abimelec Arellano’s Lincoln Mark LT SVT Raptor.

What Makes A Lincoln Mark LT Raptor Special

It comes in various colors but brown suits the pickup truck’s luxury vibe. With the same recognizable split grille, the Mark LT render also appears to feature wheels from the Lincoln Navigator. Most of the Raptor makeover happens on the front end.

2010’s Ford F-150 SVT Raptor lends its hood design, which features vents in the sides, and the headlamps also get copied over at either side of the Lincoln grille. Down below, the Raptor’s distinctive bumper and skid plate would protect the pickup as it negotiated rough terrain.

The glasshouse and body remain mostly untouched, aside from pronounced wheel arch extensions and fender vents below the A-pillar. All that’s left is to raise the ride height slightly and add some meaty off-road tires to the package.

It ends up looking like a capable machine, at odds with Lincoln’s typical luxury vibe.

When the Mexican Mark LT first began production there were two engines, but the new (for the time) 360-hp, 5-liter Coyote V8 became the standard unit after the first year or so. If Ford had put this vehicle into production, it could have used the contemporary SVT Raptor’s 6.2-liter V8 that offered up 411 hp and 434 lb-ft. That’s not a million miles away from the current F-150 Raptor’s 450 hp / 510 lb-ft.

It would still have not sold well, but what an idea – a luxury truck with a powerful engine and drivetrain designed for high-speed off-roading.

We would expect luxurious interior touches like high-quality materials, comfortable seats, an exhaustive list of equipment and a comfortable ride. Then, when required, the Lincoln Raptor could go dune-jumping.
