Roasting trends while celebrating the Autumn season, Starbucks ushers in two decades of its Pumpkin Spice Latte by launching open-edition release NFTs of the popular beverage.
The NFTs, best known as ‘Digital Stamps’, are available from October 5-9 through the coffee behemoth’s Web3 loyalty program, ‘Starbucks Odyssey‘, divided into four distinct categories: Whipped, Spiced, Iced and Steamed for $20 apiece.
On top of owning a piece of Starbucks’ virtual memorabilia, all NFT collectors will be granted 250 Odyssey points per Stamp, opening unique tangible and virtual rewards. Additionally, dedicated enthusiasts that garner all four editions will be awarded an extra special treat, which, for now, remains under wraps.
As with all perks, there’s a minor hitch: the Starbucks Pumpkin Latte NFTs are available to Odyssey members only, with the CryptoArt behind the Polygon collectibles not coming to light until after purchase on October 10.
Starbuck’s Odyssey’s Pre-Brewed Privileges
Starbucks first initiated its Odyssey rewards system in tandem with the NFT marketplace Nifty Gateway in 2022, opening it in beta the following December. Those interested in collecting NFTs and loyalty points that open rewards can easily sign up for access on the Starbucks Odyssey website.
The primary goal behind Odyssey is for Starbucks to treat its clients with extra benefits that go beyond traditional food and beverages. Already, its Digital Stamps have unlocked numerous exclusive experiences for those involved, including digital coffee classes and a trip of a lifetime to its farm in Costa Rica.
The just-launched Pumpkin Spice Latte NFTs follow Starbucks’ already existing Web3 success. In December, the coffee house distributed free NFTs to Odyssey members, with some of these Digital Stamps racking in a staggering $1,900 apiece via secondary marketplaces. The brand also debuted premium NFT Stamps in March for $100 each, which were quickly snatched up by eager coffee and NFT enthusiasts.
In blending the conventional allure of coffee with NFTs, Starbucks acts as a beacon to evolving purchasing habits and the importance of consumer appreciation in this day and age.
