A History of Unverified Crypto Claims
This is not the first time rumors about cryptocurrency in GTA 6 have surfaced. Similar claims were made in the previous years after an X post and a leaked trailer with “BUY $BTC” appeared, but these rumors were not substantiated.
In late 2022, the company banned the use of cryptocurrencies and NFTs on player-run GTA 5 servers and whilst Take-Two Interactive has explored the blockchain space with its acquisition of Zynga, which launched a blockchain game on Ethereum, there is no indication that this will extend to the upcoming title.
The game is expected to release in 2025 and any future announcements will clarify its features. As of now, there is no confirmed information about cryptocurrency features in GTA 6.
