In 2022, Bentley’s Mulliner division revealed the Continental GT-based limited-edition Batur coupe, with its production limited to just 18 units, and each of them priced at $2.1 million. Two years later, the company’s in-house coachbuilding arm has introduced the convertible version of the limited-edition GT model. Named after a crater lake in Kintamani on the island of Bali, Indonesia, the drop-top Batur is even more exclusive than its coupe sibling, with only 16 examples planned for production. It’s also one of the last Bentley cars powered by the mighty twin-turbo, 6.0-liter W12 engine. The Batur Convertible is the third bespoke model line from Bentley’s Mulliner coachbuilding division, offered with extensive personalization options.
In terms of design, the Batur Convertible looks nearly identical to the coupe version except for the foldable roof and a few more subtle tweaks. The rear deck has been redesigned to accommodate the roof’s folding mechanism, while other highlights include an integrated ducktail spoiler and a body-colored “Airbridge” behind the headrests.
The power-reclining soft top takes just 19 seconds to lower or raise and can be operated while the vehicle is traveling at speeds of up to 30 mph. The 22-inch wheels also have a different design. The example seen in the pictures is the Batur Convertible Car #0 prototype, finished in a striking Vermillion Gloss satin paint job along with glossy carbon fiber accents.
The W12 engine under the hood is capable of producing 740 horsepower and 737 pound-feet of torque. It is paired with an eight-speed, dual-clutch automatic transmission, which has been tailored for comfortable grand touring.
While Bentley has not revealed the performance figures, it’s expected to match the hardtop’s 3.4sec 0-62mph time and 209mph top speed. The Akrapovič exhaust system is entirely crafted from titanium and features huge 3D-printed exhaust finishers. Bentley has not revealed the pricing of the Batur Convertible, but we expect it to be more than the coupe’s $2.1 million starting price.
