Teesside institution Triads is set to relocate to Yarm as it waves goodbye to Middlesbrough after over three decades in the town.

The high-end clothes shop, which first opened back in 1988, gained a reputation for selling a range of popular designer clothing, footwear, and accessories.

But now bosses are set to leave the firm’s current home on 54-56 Albert Road for good as it opens a brand new store on Yarm High Street, in the former Bauer at Home.

The business – which previously had several stores in the town including on Linthorpe Road – is also now under new ownership, with Abigail Donaldson taking the helm.

A spokesperson said the new store will “work better for us and our customers”, adding that they “can’t wait” to get started and expand their customer base.

Triads’ popular Middlesbrough store will be closing down over this summer, with a date earmarked for the end of June but not set in stone. In the meantime, there will be a “massive sale” at the site, with up to 50% off stock.

Works are currently ongoing to transform the former home decor shop Bauer at Home on 32 High Street, which closed for good in January.

Recent pictures taken from the unit show Triads have already started to place branded bags in the windows of the site, as well as a sign for American clothing company Carhartt.

This is just one of several big-name brands sold by the small independent business, with others including Vivienne Westwood, Stone Island, Fred Perry, Boss, Carhartt WIP, D Squared2, and Billionaire Boys Club.

As well as offering up designer gear, the store also provides a tailored service to its customers, “setting it apart” from other major retailers.

Bosses hope to open the new Yarm store in July, despite several setbacks, with an opening day with drinks and music is already in the pipeline.

A full statement said: “We are moving stores and leaving Middlesbrough for good, which is a shame as this is where we were born back in 1988.

“However, times have changed, and a smaller store gaining much more footfall on Yarm High Street will work better for us and our customers – and we can’t wait to gain a wider customer base.

“We are moving into the old Bauer at Home and plan to open in July, but have had a few set backs with planning obligations for the front signage. Hopefully, we will be open this summer and will be hosting an opening day with drinks and music.”
