Microsoft is to hold a game preview event on Wednesday October 25, showing off upcoming titles from third-party partner studios.
It’s called Xbox Partner Preview and will feature trailers and gameplay footage from games coming to Xbox consoles and Windows.
Xbox Wire said you can expect a “mix of indie games and familiar favourites” and has already teased a few games that will be shown. We’ll see a launch trailer for Alan Wake 2, which is out on October 27, gameplay of Ark: Survival Ascended and a fresh look at stylish action-RPG Dungeons of Hinterberg.
The Xbox Partner Preview kicks off at 6pm and is likely to last between 20 and 30 minutes, as Xbox said it includes “more than 20 minutes of trailers and new gameplay footage”. If you miss the show, you’ll be able to dig back into the trailers whenever you like.
How to watch the Xbox Partner Preview
YouTube is the best place to stream the Xbox Partner Preview for most folks. It will be broadcast on the Xbox YouTube account and this is also where you’ll get the best-quality stream. It’s 4K resolution at 60fps at YouTube, and full HD elsewhere. The event will also broadcast on Twitch, which is likely to have more of a social feel than the YouTube stream.
The last big Xbox showcase was four months ago, in which we saw a preview of Ubisoft’s open world Star Wars Outlaws and an in-depth preview of Starfield. Xbox’s Partner Preview appears to be a more slight affair, but is a new format.
Microsoft owns a lot of game studios these days, including Activision Blizzard as of October 13 but this preview event is just for third-party studios. These aren’t all Xbox-exclusive titles and while Alan Wake 2 will be available to play just a couple of days after the Xbox Partner Preview, Dungeons of Hinterberg is not due for release until 2024.
We’re not going to be able to play all the previewed games before Christmas. Still, we’ll be tuning in.
