With a full Hybrid Electric Class notation, Feadship’s Project 1012 is winning accolades as the first groundbreaking luxury vessel of the Dutch yard to boast the feature. The propulsion plans and onboard energy development have been aced, proving there is nothing quite like the avant-garde technology offered by Feadship. Believed to be Zara billionaire Amancio Ortega’s 300-feet pleasure craft, Project 1012 boasts two main engines and shaft-driven fixed-pitch propellers, coupled with PTO/PTI electric motors of 560kW each and 1MW of Li-ion batteries, per Feadship.
The hybrid ship is outfitted with a regular diesel propulsion mode, but what makes it thrilling is the e-motors that play the role of shaft generators. This way, clean, green energy is used for hotel loads and also to juice up the battery bank. In pristine shores like Sibuyan Island, Kangaroo Islands, or the spectacular Galapagos Island which have stringent emission norms, e-motors provide low-speed navigation and the batteries generate the required electrical power.
“Working with the experienced owner, designers, and owners team has been a professional pleasure,” said Albert Abma, Feadship project manager. “Gathering the operational experience of the owners team with the yard’s building experience has resulted in this modern-classic, state-of-art, and full custom new Feadship.”
The gorgeous vessel also flaunts the most outstanding beach club, pun intended. Project 1012’s beach club is massive enough to occupy one-quarter of the total length of the lower deck of the 300-footer. The ship features a large pool and alfresco areas. The guest suites are located on the main deck forward, while the upper deck is where the owner enjoys a vantage point from the lavish Master stateroom.
The family lounge and wellness area are also situated on the upper decks. The boat packs an impressive range of toys and tenders between the engine room and the beach club. The side-loading garage houses two 10-meter tenders, a ski boat, and various water toys.
Amancio Ortega owned the $87 million Feadship Drizzle Yacht-
A seasoned yacht owner and a Feadship fan, the businessman owned a tri-deck luxury vessel that one could never guess belonged to the richest man in Spain. Unpretentious, straightforward, and much smaller, the pleasure craft Drizzle was delivered in 2012. It provided the Inditex tycoon with the needful- informal indoor lounges, comfortable outdoor areas, full-width swim platform with a shower, and retractable self-washing swim ladder. Still, it didn’t emulate the stature of the $91.7 billion Spaniard. With six guest suites, a well-appointed main suite she did provide the billionaire with comforts on the high seas, but it is Project 1012, a vessel that should be worth $300 million that will be a more fitting choice.

The seasoned superyacht owner is a businessman first, boasting a net worth of a whopping $91.7 billion. A 59.3% stake in Inditex, the world’s largest clothing retailer, contributes to his bottomless pit of wealth. The company is behind big fashion names like Zara, Pull&Bear, Bershka, Massimo Dutti, Stradivarius, Oysho, Uterqüe, and Zara Home. Ortega has invested heavily in office and retail properties in major cities in Spain, the US, and elsewhere in Europe. It is believed that he will be succeeded by his daughter Marta Ortega Perez, who started her Inditex career as a salesperson.
