Moonen Yachts, based in the Netherlands, has reached a significant construction milestone with the turning of the steel hull of its latest vessel, the Moonen 122 Martinique. This 37.4-meter yacht, part of the Martinique design family, is currently in production and available for sale, with an expected completion date of April 25, 2025.

The hull flip, a crucial step in the construction process, signifies another successful advancement in the building of the seventh yacht from the Martinique design family. With approximately 18 months remaining in the construction timeline, Moonen encourages potential buyers to seize the opportunity to join the project. This early involvement allows for extensive customization, enabling buyers to tailor the yacht to their unique style and preferences, according to Moonen Commercial Director Victor Caminada.

The hull turning ceremony took place at Talsma Shipyards, Moonen’s hull builder located in the northern Netherlands. Constructing the hull upside down, from the deck upward, enhances efficiency and reduces the time spent working overhead.

Designed by renowned Dutch designer René van der Velden, the Martinique design family has garnered acclaim for its timeless and elegant exterior. The new Martinique will feature a bespoke interior crafted by the talented team at Hollander Yacht Design, marking their second collaboration with the Martinique project.

Noteworthy features of the Martinique include a transatlantic range of 4000 miles, showcasing proven ocean-going performance. Its fast-displacement hull, constructed from robust yet lightweight High Tensile Steel, allows for a top speed of 17 knots and a full-load draft as shallow as 2.15 meters (7 feet), ideal for cruising in destinations like the Bahamas. The yacht also incorporates worldwide shore power connectivity, with dual US/European domestic power outlets and optimized side-boarding arrangements. The naval architecture was expertly executed by Moonen’s longstanding engineering partner, Diana Yacht Design.

Moonen Yachts is a yacht builder based in the Netherlands, and its first yacht was built in 1964 under the original yard name of De Ruiter. In 1981, the yard was renamed Moonen Shipyards. It’s launching its first vessel under new ownership: Alhena. In 2017 Moonen Shipyards changed into Moonen Yachts. With the help of strong vision, innovative technology and new designers, Moonen is once again becoming the market leader in 30m to 50m luxury yachts.
