Retro-Futuristic Cadillac Luxury Sport Coupe Design Project: Should We Dream of Blackwing?

Whenever you try to do a pole of some of Cadillac’s greatest cars, a few names constantly pop out everywhere as specialists are unanimously fond of the V16, Eldorado, and CT5-V Blackwing.

For sure, it’s kind of a 1% reduction sauce to only speak of these three, as the list can be much more comprehensive and includes models from every era. But, if you want the extra-short print, a model with features from all three of them could make out the quintessential Cadillac. Of course, that isn’t exactly possible in the real world due to Cadillac’s ongoing focus on CUVs and electrics and less on passenger cars. However, no worries; the imaginative realm of digital car content creators knows how to come to the rescue.

More precisely, here’s another steaming hot idea from Vince Burlapp (aka vburlapp on social media), a prolific virtual artist who loves to dream of all the latest models across the wide-ranging automotive realm and it seems he has developed quite a passion for GM’s luxury brand Cadillac. As such, in recent CGI times, he has envisioned a raft of Caddy projects, including fresh DeVille and other land yacht sedans, as well as Eldorado coupes and convertibles.

In fact, if you look at his social media roster and the online portal (burlappcar.com), this pixel master has singlehandedly built an alternate Cadillac lineup where there are no crossovers and SUVs – not even the Escalade – but there’s an abundance of passenger cars, including a practical and stylish station wagon. Alas, this time around, he’s neither here to discuss the potential of Cadillac EV sedans, which are allegedly in the pipeline based on the updated Ultium technologies coming out soon, nor to dream of an Eldorado comeback.

Instead, he’s bringing us the vision of an unnamed luxury Cadillac sports coupe that doesn’t seem to have any correspondence in the past, although we can easily see a few retro cues sprinkled around the design. It’s also a contemporary attempt at a two-door Cadillac, as the closed-off radiator grille seems to point toward a member of the IQ all-electric family. For sure, it could look great alongside the 2025 Optiq, 2024 Lyriq, 2026 Vistiq, and the Escalade IQ plus Celestiq flagships – but only if it has the chance to continue the mighty Blackwing lineage into the novel EV lifestyle if you ask us.

For sure, Cadillac could easily use a variant of the Ultium powertrains for a sleek two-door coupe – both the standard and ‘Velocity Max’ options (680 or 750 hp and up to 785 lb-ft/1,064 Nm of torque) from the dual-motor AWD Escalade IQ would turn it into a veritable supercar when combined with the lower mass and more aerodynamic profile, don’t you think?
