Considering that the car weighs 8660 pounds, that is no small feat. *However, GMC’s claim that the car can hit 11,500 pounds-feet of torque is misleading according to some, including reviewers from Car and Driver. Still, tests showed that the 2024 Hummer SUV EV has a 0-60 time of 3.4 seconds.

There are some differences in horsepower between trims due to differences in the motors and powertrain. Further, experts point out that this torque test was most likely done from the wheels, not from the crankshaft.

This would mean that GM’s final tally of 11,500 pound-feet would have been the result of multiplication from the additional gears, making the rotating force of the engine much smaller. So while it might technically be true that the Hummer SUV EV can hit this level of torque, it would not represent the vehicle’s true torque numbers when compared to other motors that are being measured from the crankshaft.
