Sleeper cars are cars that look somewhat ordinary on the outside, with an assuming design, but pack powerful engines underneath their hood. More often than not, sleeper cars are sports sedans, family-friendly SUVs, tiny hatchbacks, or anything in between like a mid-engined Toyota Camry sports car for instance. And because they’re so innocently styled, sleeper cars embarrass sports cars or even supercars on the daily. Although it’s not released yet, we’d bet our front teeth that these sleeper cars would give the 2025 Mazda MX-5 Miata a run for its money.

Although this list doesn’t contain the fastest sleeper cars in the world, like the ultimate Prius that Toyota built with actual performance mods, all our underrated sleeper cars today have a 0-60 time of 7 seconds or less. Our fastest entry might catch you off guard, especially.

The Chrysler PT Cruiser is arguably one of the most hated cars of all time. But due to its hatred, the PT Cruiser GT Turbo is one of the least suspecting fast cars ever built that will probably even give the 2025 Toyota MR2 a run for its money.

Take for instance the Mazdaspeed6; a US-sold sleeper car that shares the same specs as its JDM version.

Dodge is no stranger to building fast, practical cars, just look at the Dodge Charger Hellcat Widebody or Durango Hellcat. But back in the experimental 2000s, Dodge built an estate version of the Charger and called it the Magnum. Soon thereafter they squeezed a naturally aspirated 6.1-liter Hemi V8 underneath its hood.
