“I’m just so proud of myself for the progress, and the training I’ve put into to get to this moment,” De Lisle said. “And it paid off big time, big time. It was surreal. I lost the feeling in my legs on the last stretch, so when I stopped I saw Ava Povich [Former Evangelical Christian runner], and I was like laying on her. I couldn’t see anything but I was just smiling because I was so happy, and I knew I accomplished what I came to accomplish.”
De Lisle’s impressive finish held the Vikings to a fourth-place finish as a team with a score of 249.
