TULSA, Okla. — The Tulsa Dream Center is one of four different organizations in Tulsa who received an anonymous donation of four gold coins worth approximately $8,000 dollars.
Pastor Tim Newton the executive director of the Tulsa Dream Center said they are still praying on what to do with the money, but in the mean time, they will continue to serve Green Country.
“We received an envelope in the mail a couple days ago,” Newton said. “It was from an anonymous ‘Santa Claus,’ actually, that brought this gift this donation to the Tulsa Dream center and it was four gold coins.”
Newton said it’s amazing to know when someone passed, they wanted to give back to their community, and more specifically, the Tulsa Dream Center.
“To know we are one of four organizations, that this person in their last hours, they say, you know, I want this to go to these organizations, it really means a lot,” he said. “I think it’s a testament to our staff and our mission here at the TDC to see we’re making a difference.”
Newton said their mission at TDC is to serve people of all walks of life all over town and make a positive impact in their life.
“Before I started coming here, I was just walking lifeless,” said Syreeta Burrell, a family support specialist at TDC. “When I started coming here, it changed my life tremendously and I’m able to now work here and serve the community of Tulsa and help change their life like the TDC changed my life.”
Burrell said the coins will go a long way in helping serve those in need.
“This organization exists to empower Tulsa and that’s exactly what it’s doing,” Burrell said. “It gives life, it gives hope, it makes changes and that’s what we’re doing here.”
