Almost €20,000 of designer clothing, handbags, shoes and cash have been seized by gardaí in Longford as part of a planned operation targeting a locally based crime gang.
The discovery was made by officers from the Mayo/Roscommon/Longford Divisional Drugs Unit at a house on the outskirts of Longford town on Wednesday morning.
Among the cache of designer goods which were found included Christian Louboutin and Louis Vuitton hand bags with one of the items seized believed to be worth close to €6,000.
A further €2,000 in cash was also seized by officers.
No arrests have yet been made, however a garda spokesperson said investigations into the nature and background of the seizure are continuing.
“On the Wednesday, December 20, 2023, members of the Mayo/Roscommon/Longford Divisional Drugs Unit executed a search warrant under the Misuse of Drugs Act at a residence in Longford,” said a spokesperson.
“During the course of that search, cash €2,000 and designer clothing, handbags, shoes and perfumes worth in excess of €16,000 were seized. No arrests were made in this phase of the investigation.
“Enquires are ongoing.”
