A fisherman’s dream boat can indeed be luxurious, as exemplified by the Project 406 sportfishing yacht launched by Royal Huisman. Poised to become the world’s largest fishing yacht, this 171-foot vessel stands impressively with six decks. Designed by Vripack, this grandiose and lavish sportfishing yacht is currently en route from the shipyard’s inland new-build facilities in Vollenhove, eagerly approaching the final stage of its launch in Amsterdam. While specific details about its interior remain sparse, the boat has already been nicknamed a ‘sportfisher on steroids’ by its designer.

This sporty vessel embodies a fisherman’s audacious dream, blending luxury, lifestyle, and significant investment into one remarkable creation. The owner, a passionate game fisher who has nearly caught every pelagic species, is particularly keen on targeting tuna, marlin, and other large game fish. Project 406 will feature a proper fighting chair in the cockpit near the viewing area for guests and fellow anglers.

Its all-aluminum construction includes a sophisticated sky lounge with laser-powered exterior lighting, providing prime views of the deck’s thrilling action.

The fourth-level viewing deck transforms into a lounge at night, offering stunning views under the starlit sky. “Project 406 is a true Sportfisher, designed for a private owner who is serious about big game fishing. Our design incorporates every aspect of our naval architectural expertise, ensuring no compromises. Working with a world-class shipyard like Royal Huisman to bring this iconic creation to life is a true delight,” shared Bart M. Bouwhuis, Co-Creative Director at Vripack.

Brett Noble, one of the owner’s representatives from the consultancy company Bush & Noble, expressed his excitement, “Having begun my yachting career building luxury sportfish cruisers over two decades ago, being a part of the world’s largest true sportfish yacht project is a once-in-a-lifetime privilege,” he remarked.
