Authorities in West Hollywood and the Wilshire Division are searching for three men who attempted to rob a man on Sunset Boulevard on Feb. 27 and robbed a second victim approximately 10 minutes later near Cochran Avenue and Third Street. In both robberies, the suspects were traveling in a black Cadillac sedan and were targeting victims for Rolex watches, police said.
The robbery in the 8300 block of Sunset Boulevard in West Hollywood occurred around 1:55 p.m. as the victim walked his dog. The man was accosted by three male suspects who pulled up in a black Cadillac. The robbery was captured on security camera video. One of the suspects pointed a gun as the other assailants wrestled with the victim, who fought them off and ran into a nearby business. The victim, identified as Rocco DiStefano, owner of the Lab Athletic Club, was uninjured during the altercation.
“He was able to defend himself pretty well. They didn’t take his watch,” said Detective Jose Morales, with the West Hollywood Sheriff’s Station.
Deputies responded quickly and canvassed the area but did not locate the suspects. Shortly after 2 p.m., officers in the LAPD’s Wilshire Division received a report of a robbery near Cochran Avenue and Third Street. Three suspects pulled up in a black vehicle, robbed a man who was walking in the area and stole his Rolex watch, said Detective Bernard Romero, with the Wilshire Division. Police located the vehicle used by the suspects in Moreno Valley in Riverside County. No arrests have been made and the case remains under investigation.
Anyone with information about the robberies is urged to call Wilshire Division detectives at (213)473-8205, or West Hollywood Sheriff’s Station detectives at (310)855-8850.
