A yacht that’s been around for a quarter of a century would seem like a questionable purchase for personal leisure, let alone a smart investment. Still, this beautiful American vintage yacht claims to be a turnkey business in addition to its proven cruising capabilities. Whoever got their hands on this freshly revamped beauty was in luck: no matter what the market says, The Denise Rose is worth much more overall than its last known asking price.
A 25-year-old yacht like this Broward Marine should be regarded as a hero for making it so far. Thanks to this magical thing known as a refit, yachts can have more lives than cats and continually reinvent themselves to keep up with the latest standards. That is how we are able to enjoy vintage and classic boats even today. The Denise Rose has been constantly upgraded and properly maintained since its launch in 1999.
In late 2021, while operating as Lady Sharon Gale, the vintage Broward Marine underwent a major refit that mainly refreshed its interiors. The upgrades included new carpeting in all the staterooms, new wall coverings in the bathrooms, brand-new kitchen appliances, and revamped crew quarters. Less than a year later, it was sold and renamed The Denise Rose.
It changes hands again this month, less than two years after the last sale. Despite being once again upgraded in the fall of 2023, the vintage yacht sold for less than its 2022 asking price. Back then, it fetched almost $2 million. This year, it was asking for a little over $1.5 million – pocket change, considering the recent refit and its proven market success as a charter yacht.
The freshly revamped Denise Rose now sports a repainted hull and bottom, battery backup for uninterrupted power supply, various rebuilt or replaced components, and a totally refurbished 28’ Southport center console tender. Most importantly, the original two-stroke Detroit Diesels were replaced with modern MTU engines (16V2000M90 diesel). This old boat can easily reach 24 knots and cover up to 800 nautical miles at 21 knots.
The Denise Rose also boasts impressive interiors for a 25-year-old yacht, showcasing a smart layout that makes the most of its 112-foot (33.3-meter) length and generous volume. The beautiful country-style kitchen with a central island is one of the most remarkable amenities on board, as well as the spacious al-fresco areas with dining settings, sun loungers, and a jacuzzi.
All of the upgrades over the years had a precise purpose. This 1999 beauty successfully operated as a charter yacht in the US Virgin Islands; according to the brokers, The Denise Rose’s owner had to even turn down customers so that he could get some time onboard as well. Reliable, in excellent condition and topped with modern toys, this 25-year-old is a vacation dream come true. And, apparently, a business dream come true as well, since it was handed over with all the benefits of a functioning charter business (including prepaid dockage and crew arrangements), all for under $1.6 million. It’s safe to say that the new owner got himself a bargain.
Broward Marine is one of the important names in America’s yacht-building history, with roots dating back to 1948. Today, the South Florida shipyard sticks mainly to repair and refit operations, which makes every Broward Marine yacht out there, particularly the ones before the 2000s era, rare and all the more special.
