A “Rolex ripper” who stole watches and jewellery by holding up restaurant diners and drivers at gunpoint has been jailed amid a surge in robberies of valuable timepieces.
Riece Francis toured affluent areas of London on a stolen moped to rob wealthy targets, Southwark crown court was told.
Rare and expensive watches are being “stolen to order” across London by organised criminals, some of whom pinpoint potential victims on their social media accounts, The Times revealed last year.

Francis, 23, targeted fashionable restaurants and bars or drivers in expensive cars. He admitted 13 charges including four robberies, one attempted robbery, two thefts and six charges of possessing an imitation firearm.
