Stratton Studios has announced the development of PGA Tour Rise, a blockchain-powered golf game developed in partnership with the PGA Tour and Chain Games.

The game is set to launch in 2026 and will be available on mobile devices and web browsers, featuring real-time competitive play, along with options for players to collect and trade digital golf assets in the form of NFTs.

Ahead of the official launch, players can expect a selection of minigames to be introduced, with the first set to debut by the close of 2024.

What is PGA Tour Rise?

PGA Tour Rise is a forthcoming interactive golf game that incorporates blockchain technology.

Designed for both mobile devices and web browsers, the game will feature real-time competitive gameplay on famous golf courses, where players can compete to climb the leaderboard whilst earning in-game currency, known as ‘Rise Bucks,’ which can be used to upgrade their equipment and characters.

The game will also allow players to collect and trade digital assets, including NFT golf equipment and memorabilia.

“The TOUR looks forward to working alongside Stratton Studios and Chain Games as we continue to connect and engage with golf enthusiasts and gamers alike,” said Matt Iofredo, SVP Licensing & Merchandising of the PGA Tour. “By integrating web3 technology in golf games through our collaboration with these two innovative organizations, we are pushing the boundary of what’s possible in sports games.”

Partnership and Development

Ahead of the full release in 2026, a series of minigames will be introduced, starting with the first expected by the end of 2024.

Although the specifics of the first minigame haven’t been disclosed, the announcement hints at several possibilities, including hole-in-one challenges, precision putting contests, and long drive competitions.

“We are thrilled to collaborate with the PGA TOUR to create a game that captures the essence of professional golf while harnessing the potential of web3 technology,” said Jay Klauminzer, CEO of Stratton Studios. “Our partnership with Chain Games as the publisher ensures that we have the expertise and support necessary to deliver an innovative game that is not only entertaining but also technologically advanced.”

“Working with Stratton Studios and the PGA TOUR allows us to bring blockchain technology to a mainstream audience in a fun and engaging way, added Adam Barlam, Founder and CTO at Chain Games. “This project is a testament to the innovative spirit of our teams, and we’re excited to create a gaming experience that will resonate with fans worldwide.”
