The skiing season has started, and a number of fashion and luxury labels have unveiled their mountain resort collections, from Balenciaga’s first skiwear line to Chanel’s foray into winter sports fronted by Lily-Rose Depp. FashionNetwork.com has compiled a list of unmissable snow essentials, ideal for zipping down the slopes in style anywhere from the Alps to the Rockies.

Balmain X Bomber

This season, Balmain has designed a collection for skiing and snowboarding enthusiasts, featuring a pair of skis developed in collaboration with premium ski manufacturer Bomber.

Balmain X Bomber – Balmain

The French label, whose style is in the hands of Olivier Rousteing, has created a capsule collection that feels like a nod to the Alpine childhood of its founder, designer Pierre Balmain. It blends elegance and functionality in various items for women and men distinctive for their all-over printed monogram motif. The latter was gleaned from Balmain’s 1980s archives, and is also featured on the skis designed in collaboration with US ski manufacturer Bomber.

The skis, made of mainly wood, are available in four lengths (150 cm, 160 cm, 170 cm and 180 cm), and are handcrafted in the small town of Cossato, in north-western Italy. These lightweight, easily handled ‘haute couture’ skis are suitable for both experts and beginners, and are commercialised in a limited edition on the Bomber e-shop, priced at €2,950.

Boss X Perfect Moment

German label Boss has presented a new skiwear collection for the winter 2023-24, co-designed with Perfect Moment, a label founded in the French Alpine resort of Chamonix, with which Boss dropped a bold collaboration last year.

Boss X Perfect Moment – Boss

The collection includes women’s, men’s and unisex items suitable for fighting the low temperatures of the snow-covered peaks, and for spending a relaxed après-ski afternoon sipping hot chocolate in a chalet.

Among the items, quilted jackets in blazer-style pinstripes – a tongue-in-cheek reference to a more formal wardrobe – soft-shell down jackets, snug flared skiing trousers, houndstooth hoodies and thermal tops. The collection was unveiled at the Matterhorn-Cervino Speed Opening, the opening race of the FIS Ski World Cup of which Boss is an official partner, and is available at select retailers and on both labels’ e-shops. Prices range from €119 for the hats to €1,800 for the men’s skiing jumpsuits, in a black and white palette.

Iro

Parisian label Iro has dropped its new skiing capsule collection, distinctive for its contemporary style and urban feel, and created to be worn for skiing in the morning, and going shopping in the afternoon.

Iro – Iro

The collection consists of high-performance, super-warm down-jackets in two shades of jet black or in a pink zebra motif, for that untamed look, sleeveless down jackets in an ivory-coloured woven pattern, grey sweatshirt-and-joggers sets, and a pair of fleece trousers.

Accessories-wise, Iro has included skiing goggles made in South Korea, in black or white with polarised lenses, a pair of mittens, a bum bag and sand-coloured leather booties. The collection is available at Iro stores and on the label’s e-shop, with prices ranging from €135 to €895.

K-Way

Seasoned skiers will be happy to know that K-Way, the sportswear brand renowned for its colourful windbreakers, has launched a skiwear collection entirely produced using quilted nylon with synthetic, sustainable PrimaLoft padding, ideal for staying warm the entire day.

K-Way – K-Way

K-Way is an outdoor apparel expert that is forging closer ties with professional sport, having notably inked a three-year partnership with the Alpine F1 team .

K-Way’s new skiing collection features high-performance models suitable for high altitudes and sub-zero temperatures, such as the colour-block ski suits in navy, white, red and black, as well as down jackets and skiing trousers. The garments, designed for both women and men, come with assorted pockets, including a highly practical one on the forearm, to stow away one’s lift pass. Khaki-coloured bottle holders, various bum bags and backpacks complete the collection, which is available at K-Way stores and on the brand’s e-shop, at prices ranging from €350 to €700 for the clothes.
