The 361-foot Oceanco masterpiece, owned by Nancy Walton Laurie, has always been in the news for the chaos that enveloped it. The luxury vessel, initially commissioned by a connoisseur of megayachts, then-Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Khalifa bin Hamad bin Abdullah bin Jassim bin Mohammed Al Thani, has captured headlines due to repeated vandalism by eco-activist group Futuro Vegetal. However, the true marvel that is the Kaos yacht deserves recognition for its grandeur and exquisite design.

Formerly known as Jubilee, the floating palace was opulently designed by Sam Sorgiovanni, incorporating luxurious materials like Crystal Caviar insets, silk carpets, Iranian white onyx, and Golden Spider stone.

The vessel, originally designed with royalty in mind, underwent a year-long refit in 2019 at Lürssen to suit Walton’s tastes, with Reymond Langton Design breathing new life into it while retaining most of its original charm. Kaos maintains a cosmopolitan vibe inspired by the city of Casablanca, blending Arabian and European cultures.

The opulent ship accommodates 31 guests in stately cabins and features an owner’s deck separated from the rest of the yacht for privacy. The 135-square-meter main saloon is a regal space with a large television and comfortable seating.

One of the highlights of the four-decker vessel is its massive swimming pool, which is surrounded by additional seating and elevated above the superyacht beach club. An aquarium, located within the beach club, offers a captivating view into the pool above.

Kaos’s impressive features continue with a helipad, a 12-person cinema, a massage parlor, a hammam, a gym, and a classy addition called “The London Bar,” complete with smoke machines, a DJ booth, and a water wall chandelier. The yacht also includes a separate gym for the crew and a small hospital for at-sea medical emergencies.

The vessel is a testament to the skill of the teams that brought it to life, with a staggering 6,561 feet of LED strip lighting up its metallic blue exterior. The wonders of Kaos seem unending, as it also manages to accommodate an array of matching tenders, rescue boats, inflatables, and other exciting gear. Powered by two MTU diesel engines, Kaos boasts a top speed of 18.5 knots.

Walmart heiress Nancy Walton Laurie –

Worth $10.2 billion, Nancy Walton is the youngest daughter of James Walton, co-founder of Walmart. In 1995, she inherited half of her father’s stake, amounting to 40 million shares in Walmart. The 73-year-old heiress holds a bachelor’s degree in English from the University of Memphis.

Kaos was vandalized not once but twice by climate activists.

Her cousin, Alice Walton, is one of the world’s richest women with a net worth of nearly $87.2 billion. Raised in Versailles, Missouri, Nancy established the Columbia Performing Arts Center in Columbia. Although she owns less than a 5% stake in Walmart, she is not involved in its operations.
