Cabinet Chairman visits Kumtor gold mine
AKIPRESS.COM – Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers Akylbek Japarov visited the Kumtor mine as part of his working visit to Issyk-Kul region.
The Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers visited the machine shop of the enterprise, where he got acquainted with the state of assembly of new excavators and gas stations. Currently, more than 800 different vehicles, machinery and equipment are used at the mine.
Akylbek Japarov also visited the main pit of the mine, where underground gold mining is carried out since February 2024. Around 115 tons of gold are expected to be extracted.
From 2026, it is planned to begin gold mining from ore waste located in the mine tailings. According to preliminary estimates, additional 120 tons of gold can be obtained.
Some 13.567 tons of gold were produced at Kumtor mine in 2023. The company’s total revenue made $848 million and net profit comprised $302.5 million.
