Quick Facts
Introduction
The Lexus ES is an award-winning, well-equipped luxury midsize sedan from the premium tier of Toyota. Winner of the Kelley Blue Book Best Midsize Luxury Cars of 2020 and member of the Best Brands to Own List, the 2021 Lexus ES represents the brand well. With a quality build, peaceful ride, abundant standard equipment, and a competitive price, the 2021 ES delivers luxury and value. Designed to meet buyers at the intersection of elegance, convenience, and reliability, the Lexus ES has become a brilliant bargain.
A longtime Lexus nameplate launched as a 1990 model, the ES has evolved into a sedan with options. Lexus delivered a quietly reliable car that was fun to drive and had good gas mileage. It first debuted as a four-door sedan with what would become a class mainstay for decades. Buyers loved the combination of gentle pricing and an entry into the luxury space. As time progressed, the ES became a reliable standard for what could be delightful in the luxury midsize space. With optional all-wheel drive (AWD), a hybrid variant, and better handling than previous generations, the 2021 Lexus ES is a solid option for luxury sedan hunters.

KBB Review Highlights
In a full class of champions with the Mercedes-Benz E-Class, Volvo S90, Acura TLX, and the rising contender the Genesis G80, the 2021 Lexus ES holds its ground as a leader. This year’s model leads with a distinctly Lexus shape with the hourglass grille, sensual lines, and clean body line. The 2021 ES, whose current generation launched in 2019, gains some gravitas and a more muscular stance. The lineup includes the ES 300h hybrid, the gasoline-only ES 250 AWD 4-cylinder, and the ES 350 V6 gas-powered models.
From the team that has been doing hybrid powertrains excellently for years, the new Lexus rendition of a hybrid sedan is unsurprising. The fact that it is well-executed, well-priced, generous in space, and has abundant standard equipment is also almost a given.
In 11 variants, the 2021 Lexus ES offers an option for every driver, regardless of your power preference. New for the 2021 model year, the ES 250 AWD has an intelligent system that can auto-detect the need for all-wheel drive (AWD) and apply as needed. The V6-equipped ES 350 models are front-wheel drive (FWD) and deliver 302 horsepower for a spirited drive. The hybrid ES 300h versions can travel up to 44 miles on a gallon of gas with enough pep for your daily commute and more.
With more leg space than the G80, the generously appointed cabin is marked by elegant color schemes. The F Sport features aluminum accents inspired by the beauty of ancient Japanese swords. A powered moonroof allows natural light into the cabin. A high-resolution 8.0-inch or 12.3-inch touchscreen display marks the dash. The infotainment system has smartphone projection (Apple CarPlay and Android Auto) and Wi-Fi capability. Also, for 2021, Lexus produced a limited run of 1,500 Black Line Special Edition ES vehicles with a very collectible Zero Halliburton luggage set.
