Aussie cricket’s crack batsman Steve Smith has sold his latest lush Sydney renovation, carrying on a tradition of successfully flipping properties.

The glam coastal home in Bronte, decorated in striking white – much like the Aussie Test uniform – changed hands via private treaty on February 6, after a campaign that started with reported $7 million price hopes.

The sum is undisclosed. Agent Tanya Hatton from Bentley Estate Agents declined to comment on any aspect of the transaction.

The Sydney Morning Herald’s Title Deeds columnist Lucy Macken reported last year at the beginning of the sale push that the Californian bungalow was a “fairly modest three-bedder” when Smith, the 2023 Allan Border medallist, bought it for $3.5 million in 2019.

Now, the listing describes it as a “dream family home” with soaring, bi-fold glass doors to the terrace and saltwater plunge pool, a stylish sage green kitchen, sweeping living spaces, oak floors and stenciled plaster walls, among other high-end flourishes.

Two years ago, Smith sold a “flawless” Vaucluse mansion at auction for $12.38 million. The property did not carry a price guide but agents at the time confirmed there was serious interest in the $12 million bracket.

Smith and his wife totally turned around the property, completing a meticulous renovation, for a stunning result.

Two bidders competed for 59 Kings Road in a 30-minute boardroom auction at agency Raine and Horne’s Double Bay offices.

According to The Sydney Morning Herald, Smith has been renovating and selling properties as a side hustle for a decade, with updated houses in Balmain and Balmain East on his real estate CV.

Smith is in the 15-player squad heading to New Zealand for Australia’s T20 Series against the Black Caps later this month.
