On top of their respective TV personality and acting careers, Ellen DeGeneres and Portia de Rossi are known to have an extremely impressive real estate portfolio and a long history of flipping luxury houses. The couple’s latest—and possibly quickest—mansion flip has entered the market at a crisp asking price of $46.5 million. After looking at the photos, both haters and fans of the comedian are ready to sign the closing papers and move in. (It is the best time to do so, after all.)
Instagrammer @housesofcelebs, posted about DeGeneres’s and de Rossi’s Montecito, California, property listing, and people are going absolutely wild in the comment section. One commenter wrote that they don’t particularly like the comedian, but they have to give her and her better half props for designing such a beautiful property. Others aren’t so quick to praise the estate though, with one commenter writing, “Too much negative energy in that house!!” However, if we had to put money on it, we’d say the house-flipping celebrity couple never even lived in that house. Which doesn’t mean that Montecito lacks for celebrities! The swanky coastal California town is home to Harry and Meghan, Oprah, and Gwyneth Paltrow, to name but a few.
DeGeneres and de Rossi bought the gorgeous century-old villa in late June of this year for $22.5 million, meaning they spent just four months renovating the 11,530-square-foot estate to bring it up to standards that fit the new doubled selling price. The main house features two bedrooms, two full bathrooms, and two half baths, but the property comes with two other guest houses, an art studio, a pool house, and a staff house. Yes, our jaws are on the floor too.
According to the real estate group listing the property, Riskin Partners, this European-style manor boasts “elements of the original 1919 architecture” and a vast list of amenities. One thing’s for certain: Whoever ends up living in this mansion will never get bored. There’s the relaxing koi pond, the private tennis court, the turquoise blue pool—there are even views of the mountains and of the sea to stare at if you do somehow run out of things to do. The bottom line is, no detail was overlooked with this legacy estate. We’d live in it if we could!
