Presenter Alex Hirschi is in California, home of Lucid Motors, where she is reviewing the new Lucid Air Sapphire – the top-of-the-range version of the luxury EV sedan. As Alex says, this is the fastest sedan in the world, possibly the quickest production sedan anyway.
Starting at the Ritz in Half Moon Bay and ending up at Lucid HQ 30 or so miles away, the YouTuber shows off all the cool features of the electric sedan and what makes it such an incredible vehicle.
The 2023 Lucid Air Sapphire Impresses Alex Hirschi With Its Performance
The Lucid Air, the startup’s first electric vehicle, is a luxury electric sedan, but it made headlines for its incredible performance and its position as a competitor to Tesla.
Its acceleration is impressive for any car: even with around 5,300 lbs to shift, the rate at which it makes progress is insane, as Supercar Blondie proves when she puts her foot down for a launch.
That’s thanks to 1234 hp / 1430 lb-ft (more than the Tesla Model S Plaid’s 1020 hp / 1050 lb-ft). The Lucid Air Sapphire sits at the top of the Air range, and Alex reveals its price tag to be $250,000, which is more than double the starting price of a Model S Plaid.
With a trimotor setup, the Sapphire can reach 60 mph in 1.9 seconds, 100 mph in 4 seconds, has 430 miles of range, and can charge at up to 900v. But as Alex shows in the video, the Lucid Air Sapphire is about more than just figures and power: it is an impressive luxury sedan.
What Are The Best Features Of The Lucid Air Sapphire?
As the Sapphire is the elite version of the Air, it comes packed with features and an attractive interior. Inside, Hirschi points out the Alcántara covered cabin, with real wood trim and alpaca wool. It uses the same 34” widescreen. The auxiliary screen below the even retracts to reveal a storage bin.
Alex likes the slimline key, the helmet-friendly headrest and the 3D camera which offers a complete view of the car which can get used to see the Air from multiple angles.
The helmet-friendly adjustable headrest is useful for when owners take the Sapphire racing: aside from the Smooth and Swift driving modes, the ‘Sapphire’ mode unlocks all 1234 hp, while the Track Mode option offers drag racing, hot lap, and endurance modes.
Even more impressive is the facial recognition feature which stores settings for each individual driver.
Practicality also scores big points for the Lucid with Alex: the rear doors have a 90-degree entrance/exit aperture, and the frunk (which opens automatically) has a large storage space.
On the outside, a new air splitter, slighter wider-wheel arches and carbon fiber mirror cases also make this sedan look special.
