Women’s competition
Hungary women, skipped by Kalocsai-van Dorp Vera, won the Le Gruyère AOP European Curling Championships B-Divison gold medals after defeating Lithuania in the final by 9-2.
Both teams got promoted to next season’s A-Division.
Poland women picked up bronze after defeating Latvia by 7-4.
At the end of the round robin it was decided that ninth placed Belgium and tenth Slovakia got relegated to the C-Division.
The gold medal winning Hungarian team is: skip Kalocsai-van Dorp Vera, fourth player Joó Linda, second Nagy Laura Karolina and lead Tóth-Csősz Orsolya, supported by alternate Orbán Hanna Regina and coach Jakab Zoltán.
The silver medal winning Lithuanian team is: skip Virginija Paulauskaite, third Olga Dvojeglazova, second Ruta Blaziene and lead Justina Zalieckiene, supported by alternate Migle Kiudyte and coach Egle Cepulyte.
The bronze medal winning Polish team is: skip Aneta Lipinska, third Ewa Nogly, second Marta Leszczynska and lead Magdalena Kolodziej, supported by coach Maciej Cesarz.
Men’s competition
In the men’s gold medal game, England —skipped by Rob Retchless— defeated Austria by 6-4. Just as in the women’s field, both finalists got promoted to next season’s A-Division.
Latvia took bronze medals after a 12-6 win over France.
Portugal and Liechtenstein finished 15th and 16th overall, and they are now relegated to the C-Division.
The gold medal winning English team is: skip Rob Retchless, third Jotham Sugden, second Scott Gibson and lead Jonathan Havercroft, supported by alternate Felix Price and coach David Ramsay.
The silver medal winning Austrian team is: skip Mathias Genner, third Jonas Backofen, second Martin Reichel and lead Florian Mavec, supported by alternate Moritz Joechl and coach Bjoern Schroeder.
The bronze medal winning Latvian team is: skip Martins Truksans, third Janis Klive, second Aivars Avotins and lead Sandris Buholcs.
