Revenue officers have continued uncovering the supply chain of illicit goods into Ireland – with the latest finds including magic mushrooms and designer handbags – valued in excess of €304,000.
Searches in Dublin over the past week have led to the discovery of large amounts of psychedelic drugs and contraband.
Revenue officers examining parcels at a premises in Dublin used risk profiling to locate 11.9 kgs of herbal cannabis with an estimated value of over €239,500 initially.
On top of that, they uncovered a variety of other drugs valued at over €14,400 including 1.2kgs of cannabis edibles, 55mls of cannabis oil, 221.6g of magic mushrooms, 32mls of synthetic cannabinoids, 300 Ephedrine tablets, 30 Tapentadol tablets, and 905 Benzodiazepine/Diazepam/Zopiclone/Zolpidem tablets.
A further 1.5 kgs of butane honey oil with an estimated value of approximately €30,200 was also uncovered.
The packaged came in from all over the world, including countries such as UK, the USA, Canada, Thailand and India. The drugs were intended for addresses nationwide.
A quantity of retail goods, with an estimated value of approximately €20,000, was also seized due to Infringements of Intellectual Property Rights.
The retail goods comprised of Adidas sports shoes, Converse sports shoes, New Balance sports shoes, Golden Goose sports shoes, two Yves Saint Laurent handbags, a pair of Prada sunglasses, ten pairs of Hermes sandals, 16 pairs of Birkenstock sandals, and 70 pairs of Nike sports outfits.
Revenue state that “investigations into all seizures are ongoing” and that “these seizures are part of Revenue’s ongoing operations targeting smuggling and shadow economy activity.
