Royal Huisman is set to turn the hull of its largest super-sized sailing yacht to date, the 85m New World Sloop. Measuring 85 metres (280 feet), this vessel is poised to become the world’s largest yacht with a single mast.
Project 410 represents a collaborative effort involving the yacht’s owner, Frers Design, and Wetzels Brown. Frers Design has taken charge of the overall concept, exterior design, and naval architecture, while Wetzels Brown has been entrusted with the interior design. The intricate design and engineering work is being handled by Royal Huisman’s in-house team, along with expert co-makers.
This project was first revealed to a select audience at the St. Barths Bucket Regatta in 2022, and since then, only a few visuals have been made public. The construction of the aluminium hull is taking place at Royal Huisman’s shipyard in Vollenhove, The Netherlands.
The hull turning of Project 410 signifies a significant achievement for Royal Huisman. Jan Timmerman, the shipyard’s CEO, said, “Four of the world’s ten largest sailing yachts are either built by or under construction at Royal Huisman: Athena, Sea Eagle, Project 410 New World Sloop, and another super-sized sailing yacht currently under construction in Vollenhove will join the top 10 upon delivery.”
Royal Huisman’s super-sized sailing yachts exemplify the advantages they hold over motor yachts. These large sailing yachts benefit from green propulsion methods, leveraging free wind energy and achieving an energy-neutral mode that generates sufficient power for all systems while recharging batteries for silent anchoring.
The sustainable features, developed by Royal Huisman nearly two decades ago, underscore the shipyard’s longstanding commitment to innovation. Timmerman added, “This is what makes these Royal Huisman super-sized sailing yachts a testimony to the shipyard’s commitment to innovation. They will become the ultimate expression of personal freedom.”
