The ’60s luxury car is back as a render with a familiar design, but some interesting modern features help this Lincoln add up to something special.
The 1965 Continental’s simple, square shape lends itself well to the art of resto-modding, or modifying and upgrading classic cars. Just drop it lower, add some big wheels, and voilà. However, this render is no restomod. Rather than simply modifying the classic Continental, this is a modern reimagining of the ’65 Lincoln Continental and doesn’t follow in the footsteps of the last generation, either. Its low-slung, boxy shape is as imperious as ever, and the vintage wheels and three-box design are familiar. It’s also at odds with the last generation’s rounded silhouette. From the rear, the ’65’s vertical lights continue to form an LED light bar, and its flush door handles are so 2024. But it’s up front where the Continental has received the most significant changes. A compact, recessed grille and LED headlamps are a big statement. And yes, that’s a power bulge in the hood, which suggests that something substantial lurks underneath.
