Tes Schouten & Arno Kamminga Strike Gold On Final Day In Rotterdam
Tes Schouten and Arno Kamminga won the women’s and men’s 100m breaststroke titles as the Rotterdam Qualification Meet wrapped up.
Schouten led throughout to stop the clock in 1:06.31 – 0.60secs outside her Dutch record of 1:05.71 – to add to her 200m gold.
The world 200 bronze medallist finished 0.96 ahead of the University of Stirling’s Angharad Evans (1:07.27) with Nayara Pineda Lopez of Spain third in 1:08.10.
Schouten trains with Kamminga and Caspar Corbeau at the High Performance Centre in Amsterdam and it was the Olympic silver medallist who won in 59.26 to 59.43 to reverse the 200 result.
Germany’s Lucas Matzerath was third in 59.52.
With Rotterdam concluded, the trio will now travel to Otopeni for the European Short-Course Championships.
Katarzyna Wasick won the women’s 50 free in 24.18 with Nicholas Lia the only man inside 22secs in 21.99.
Kieran Bird went 3:47.96 for the 400 free with Imani de Jong taking the women’s title in 4:14.42.
Maaike de Waard was 0.50secs outside Ranomi Kromowidjojo’s Dutch 50 fly record in 25.74 with Sean Niewold taking the men’s title in 23.43.
Victor Johansson claimed the men’s 800 in 7:50.14 with Angela Martinez Guillen winning the women’s race in 8:38.81.
