This week was further proof that a luxury timepiece can make an outfit.
Case in point: Knicks shooting guard Josh Hart was able to elevate a plain white tee with an elegant Patek Philippe Nautilus. Similarly, American Fiction star Sterling K. Brown fancied up a rather unremarkable crew neck with a Rolex Submariner Date.
A watch can also be the cherry atop an already sweet ensemble. For example, modern-day Renaissance man Donald Glover recently finished off a cool Fear of God look with a sleek Cartier Santos-Dumont. Likewise, Top Boy’s leading man Micheal Ward rounded out a bespoke Wales Bonner suit with a different version of the Santos de Cartier. Tennis pro Jannik Sinner also topped off a preppy Gucci tracksuit with a Rolex Submariner Date.
Suffice it to say, any ‘fit can be improved with the right wrist candy.
Check out the best watch flexes of the week below.

Josh Hart: Patek Philippe Nautilus
Josh Hart may have worn a boring white t-shirt to David Yurman in New York this week, but fortunately, his jewelry was exciting. The New York Knicks shooting guard was sporting a stylish Patek Philippe Nautilus at the event. Unveiled in 2022, this take on the flagship model (Ref. 5712/1R-001) is distinguished by a 40 mm rose-gold case, a matching rose-gold bracelet, and a striking sunburst dial that changes from brown at the center to black on the periphery. The arrangement of the complications on the face sees a small seconds sub-dial between four and five o’clock, a moon phase display with an analogue date at seven o’clock, and a power reserve indicator at 10 o’clock. The watch costs $83,310, but, hey, at least white tees are cheap.

Jannik Sinner: Rolex Submariner Date
Jannik Sinner won his first grand slam title at the Australian Open on Sunday. He aced his post-match look, too. The 22-year-old Italian tennis pro posed with his trophy in Melbourne after his victory, wearing a preppy Gucci ensemble and a Rolex Submariner Date. (The snappy-dressing athlete is an ambassador for both the Italian fashion house and the Swiss watchmaker.) Released in 2010, Reference 116610LN was the first Submariner to be equipped with a scratch-proof ceramic bezel. In addition, the model features a 40 mm steel case, a black dial, and an Oystersteel bracelet. It was discontinued in 2021, but you can find it on the secondary market for around $12,000.

Donald Glover: Cartier Santos
Donald Glover has worn Cartiers before, and he’s not afraid to do it again. The multihyphenate sported a Santos-Dumont at the Mr. & Mrs. Smith premiere in New York on Wednesday night. Unveiled at Watches & Wonders in 2022, this iteration features all the Santos signatures—a sleek square-shaped dial and large Roman numeral—but also showcases new materials. The rose-gold case is fitted with a beige lacquered bezel that perfectly matches the beige dial and Glover’s beige Fear of God ensemble. Now that’s coordination.
-
Sterling K. Brown: Rolex Submariner Date
Sterling K. Brown might not seem to have much in common with Jannik Sinner, but evidently, the two gents have the same taste in Rolexes. The American Fiction star wore a Reference 116610LN on Late Night with Seth Meyers this week. You know the drill: a 40 mm steel case, a black dial, and a black ceramic bezel. It’s also worth pointing out that the model is powered by Caliber 3235. Introduced by Rolex in 2015, the automatic self-winding movement was the successor to the Caliber 3135 and received several modifications to increase the power reserve from 48 to 70 hours all the while keeping the proportions of its predecessor.
-
Michael Ward: Cartier Santos de Cartier
Top Boy star Micheal Ward has top-notch taste in labels. The Jamaican-British actor attended the One Love premiere in London, wearing bespoke Wales Bonner tailoring in horsehair and a steely Cartier Santos. The watch features a square-shaped steel case—Ward’s appears to be a large 39.8 mm model—and a silvered opaline dial. Under the sapphire crystal lies sword-shaped steel hands and a calendar aperture at 6 o’clock. The timepiece also sports a seven-sided crown set with a faceted synthetic spinel. Top-notch taste, indeed.

DJ Khaled: Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Rainbow
DJ Khaled’s watch may have upstaged the polo shirts he’s selling. The Grammy award-winning music mogul just dropped a new collection with Tommy Hilfiger, and his blingy Audemars Piguet turned out to be the star of the campaign pics. Released in July 2021, this technicolor riff on the iconic Royal Oak sports an intricate openworked dial set with 32 baguette-cut tsavorites, emeralds, topazes, tanzanites, amethysts, and colored sapphires. Khaled’s reference features a 41 mm case finished in yellow gold, but the model is also available in white or pink gold and in 37 mm sizing. The 41 mm edition was originally priced at $118,500 but could run you as much as half a mil now. The polo’s are priced at a much more modest $99.50.

Jeezy: Rolex Datejust
Rapper Jay Jenkins, better known by his stage name Jeezy, was spotted partying this week with an iced-out Rolex on his wrist. The Datejust in question is set with dozens of carats of diamonds for extra pizzazz. Blingy wrist candy like this, which is typically customized after being purchased from an authorized dealer, can command a pretty penny on the secondary market. With a rumored net worth of $10 million, Jeezy probably isn’t too worried about price.
