The Oscars are the biggest moment in Hollywood each year. While the stars have been bringing their A-game throughout the award season, for the 96th annual Academy Awards, they pulled out all the stops for their wrist game. On the red carpet, we saw some of the most hyped watches of the past year, from Ke Huy Quan’s Cartier Santos-Dumont Micro-Rotor to Roger Federer’s Rolex Daytona Le Mans. But these weren’t the only models to catch our eye—here are all of our favorite watches of the evening.

Roger Federer and his watch collection need no introduction. The tennis legend has built an equally impressive reputation for the timepieces he’s worn on and off the court over his storied career. At this year’s 96th annual Academy Awards, Federer donned a debonair black and white look complete with the biggest release from the Crown in 2023: the Rolex Daytona Le Mans.

Robert Downey Jr. is no stranger to the Oscars, sweeping up his first nomination all the way back in 1993 for Best Actor in Chaplin. Three-time Oscar nominated actor Ryan Gosling came to this year’s Academy Awards hopeful to finally notch a win for his portrayal of Ken in the popular film Barbie. Simu Liu has risen in the Hollywood zeitgeist in the past several years thanks to his roles in the Marvel Universe and more recently Barbie. While he didn’t receive a nomination for his role as Ken, he came to this year’s Academy Awards in support of the acclaimed film’s eight nominations, including Best Picture. As Liu has come into prominence, he’s proven he has a keen eye for a diverse range of watches from more subtle styles to bolder ones. For the Oscars, he opted for the latter, sporting a Jacob & Co The World Is Yours Dual Time Zone with his all-black look—the model makes a big statement with its lacquered blue dial and rose-gold continents.

Despite his tenured career spanning several decades, would you believe Matthew McConaughey has only ever received one Oscar nomination and win? Yoo took to the red carpet in a handsome double-breasted tux decked out in Cartier. His look included a gem-set brooch, rings, and cuff links from the Maison as well as a gorgeous timepiece.
