While the previous generation of the GX made 301 horsepower, the current GX 550’s blown V-6 makes 48 more horses. It comes matted to a 10-speed automatic transmission as standard and features four-wheel drive. Off-Road Capability
The 2024 Lexus GX is built to handle anything, especially when had in either of the Overtrail trims. These models come with 18-inch wheels and 33-inch all-terrain tires. This gives these models 8.86 inches of ground clearance. Its approach angle is 26°, its departure angle is 22° and its breakover is 24°.
On top of its wheels, the GX 550 in the off-road trims features an aluminum skid plate, a crawl function, and an adaptive suspension system. On top of this, the GX features selectable drive modes optimized for different terrains. The transfer case on the GX 550 allows you to go into the low-range gearset without locking the center differential. It also features a system called the Electronic Kinetic Dynamic Suspension System that allows you to disconnect the front or rear anti-roll bars independently to improve stability.
