While free car games can be worth the salt at times, it doesn’t hurt to shill out a few dollars on a paid game. And Simpsons: Hit and Run seems to be one of those titles. Back in the good old 2000s, we surprisingly got our hands on a Simpsons racing game that packed an open-world Springfield in a surprisingly neat package. While The Simpsons: Hit and Run isn’t available for digital downloads these days, you can still pick up a copy from Amazon or eBay.

The initial game was supposed to be a racing game through and through, but walking on foot and causing shenanigans was something that even Matt Groening enjoyed. The game featured a plethora of iconic vehicles from the show. Some of these cars looked outright ridiculous with a very basic naming scheme. But they certainly packed a punch where it mattered, albeit, with a few compromises here and there, to balance things out. With that said, let’s take a look at the 10 most memorable cars from the Simpsons: Hit and Run.

10 The Family Sedan

via Simpsons Hit and Run Wiki

The Family Sedan is one of the first vehicles you can get your hands on in The Simpsons: Hit and Run. It’s the iconic pink sedan we all know and love from the TV series, albeit with a few minor tweaks. Instead of users getting to enjoy the base sedan from the show, you get to drive around in a four-door convertible variant. It wasn’t until quite recently that the showrunners revealed that Homer’s car is a 1986 Plymouth Junkerolla.

The Family Sedan is a decent starter car that comes in handy in all sorts of scenarios. Although it comes with a very low top speed, the handling is supreme, allowing you to maneuver corners easily. Toughness is respectable, but the acceleration could have been better.

9 Ferrini

Of course, Bart’s Ferrini makes it on the list, and it’s an obvious nod to Ferrari’s lineup of supercars. And the tail lights give away where the developers got their inspiration from. Making your way to level six, Bart’s given the reins to this extremely lovely supercar that’s a blast to drive. You can surely get some incredible stunts done with this car. Though the Ferrini comes in red by default, you can also get a black variant with cheats, but it’s all just cosmetic in the end.

8 Speed Rocket

The Speed Rocket is one of the coolest vehicles in the Simpsons: Hit and Run. And you have to find it in level one of the game to unlock it. But to be fair, it’s pretty easy to come across if you’re adamant about exploring the entirety of Springfield’s first level. Just stumble across Quimby’s mansion and you’ll find it parked right outside.

Where this vehicle excels at speed, it does cut a few corners. It’s extremely vulnerable to head-on collisions. The Speed Rocket has low armor, and high-impact collisions will pretty much put it out of commission.

7 The Cola Truck

The Cola Truck is no GMC Sierra, but it’s, by far, one of the toughest vehicles in the game. You can ram it anywhere and manage high-speed collisions–walking away in one piece. While the acceleration of this truck is on the lower side of things, it has a decent top speed, that is if you can manage with the horrible handling.

Just from the looks, the Cola Truck is quite menacing. It boasts a satellite dish on the top, black paint from head to toe, and two beefy exhausts that pump out thick smoke. This truck is featured in level 5 where Apu investigates Buzz Cola, only to find out that the Cola Truck is owned by the museum.

6 Zombie Car

via Simpsons Hit and Run Wiki

Hot Rods are pretty neat, and the developers upped the ante with this vehicle. The Zombie Car looks like an extremely edgy hot rod painted pink. To wrap up the aesthetic, you get some spikes and a skull ornament on the front grille. Driving around this vehicle is a blast. Thick smoke blows out the exhaust tips featuring skulls, that also act as headlights. You can get your hands on the Zombie Car in level 7 from a zombie over at the graveyard.

Driving around the Zombie Car is a blast. Although it comes in at a heavy price, it’s understandable considering just how fast it is. But with speed, comes a bit of vulnerability and the Zombie Car just isn’t that strong. But get the hang of it, and it’ll be your go-to vehicle in The Simpsons: Hit and Run.

5 Knight Boat

The Knight Boat is literally a blacked-out boat on wheels. And given the absurd nature of this vehicle, it’s a hidden unlockable. Even veterans of the series might have missed out on the existence of this memorable car. To find it, you need to make your way to the Goblex ship on level 3 and scour the containers at the front.

If you didn’t know, the Knight Boat was featured in the Simpsons and is a parody rip-off of KITT from Knight Rider. While it packs four rocket boosters for some speed, it doesn’t fare well in water, which is kind of a bummer.

4 Hover Car

The Hover Car is Professor Frink’s default vehicle in The Simpsons: Hit and Run. And it’s pretty cool, to say the least. While it may not have autonomous driving, it comes with a cooler quirk. Seeing a car floating off the ground with electricity coursing through the rear engine of this coupe brought joy to many of us as kids. But the Hover Car had a few tricks up its sleeve that made it even more memorable.

When traveling at high speeds, the Hover Car starts to turn invisible, which doesn’t really help other than make the car look even cooler. The Hover Car could easily be unlocked in level 5 after completing the mission Kinky Frinky.

3 Globex Super Villain Car

via Simpsons Hit and Run Wiki

The Globex Super Villain Car is one of the coolest vehicles in The Simpsons: Hit and Run, and it closely resembles William Burge’s Phantom Art Car. This vehicle comes adorned in a flat orange colorway, with some vents in the front, a two-door configuration, and some mean-looking lights. You get a beefy engine at the back with three exhausts pouring out the sides.

Players can unlock the Globex Super Villain Car towards the end of level 6. Controlling Bart during this level, you’re supposed to buy this car from Kearney. You’re supposed to destroy all the laser gun stalls in a really tight time limit.

2 Mr. Burns’ Limo

via Simpsons Hit and Run Wiki

Mr. Burn’s has a decent collection of cars and even a 1912 Stutz Bearcat. But what we got in the game was an absurd Limo. While Mr. Burns’ Limo seems to look a tad bit underwhelming compared to other cars on the list, it makes up for its looks with its performance and handling. With Smithers in the driver’s seat and curtains in the passenger compartment, it truly feels like a luxury car like we’ve never seen before.

You can unlock this vehicle by completing the bonus mission “Flaming Tires.” You’re supposed to aid Smithers in finding some items for Mr. Burns. And depending upon which level you’re playing on, Smithers might pop in the driver’s seat!

1 Open Wheel Race Car

Despite the underwhelming name of the vehicle, the Open Wheel Race Car is the fastest. While it may not set records on the Nürburgring, this Formula 1-inspired race car is one of the best vehicles in The Simpsons: Hit and Run.

While it looks plain old boring compared to other cars on the list, it does a few things right that earn it the top spot. While it skimps out on durability, this vehicle handles incredibly well even at top speed. You won’t ever have to worry about crashing the Open Wheel Race Car.
