New manufacturer
According to reports, the company has decided to enter the Indian market and has now moved onto the execution stage. For this, the brand has set up a new team to craft out a strategy for the Genesis brand in the country. With SUVs in demand, Genesis will be focusing predominantly on launching its SUVS in India. To gauge the response, the models may come as CBUs in the first phase, and then the SUVs could be assembled at Hyundai’s factory in Chennai.
What could it bring to India?
Currently, Genesis brand has 3 SUVs that it could bring to India. Firstly we could see the GV70 that was launched in 2020. The GV70 competes with Mercedes GLC and Audi Q5. The second model could be the GV80, which also debuted in 2020. As a product, the GV80 rivals the Mercedes Benz GLE and BMW X5. The Genesis brand is gearing up to launch the GV90 globally. The GV90 will be the brand’s new flagship product, rivalling the likes of Mercedes Benz GLS and BMW X7.

Genesis India launch finally happening
Hyundai has been hinting about launching the Genesis brand in India for some time now. Last year, Unsoo Kim, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Hyundai Motor India, revealed the company will not shy from launching the Genesis brand in India. He also stated that it was just a matter of when to bring Genesis to India. Hyundai had brought 68 Genesis cars for the G20 summit in India to be used by the heads of state and ministers.
