  • Australia’s newest oasis in Port Douglas features innovative hotel accommodations and ultra-luxe residential retreats.
  • The resort’s residential enclave offers residents access to advanced wellness options and sustainable green spaces.
  • Construction is set to commence in 2025, promising a groundbreaking development that redefines luxury living in Australia.

GURNER™, the visionary developer renowned for its groundbreaking projects, has secured planning approval for a breathtaking $250 million resort in Port Douglas, Queensland. Spanning a sprawling 26,000 square meters at 91 – 113 Davidson Road, this development promises to redefine luxury living and hospitality in Australia.

Elevating luxury living

One of the most striking features of the project is the inclusion of six “underwater” aquarium rooms. These rooms, with glass walls offering an immersive view into the lagoon, promise an unparalleled experience for guests seeking a blend of luxury and adventure.

GURNER™’s CEO, Tim Gurner, expressed his excitement about the project, stating, “We see this as a huge opportunity for the future of Port Douglas – the incredible area is crying out for some amazing accommodation that highlights its natural beauty, which is what inspired the design of our luxury wellness experience that locals will be proud of.”

A sanctuary for wellness

With a focus on holistic wellness, the resort aims to be a sanctuary for the mind, body, and soul. Residents and guests will have access to a range of amenities designed to promote physical, mental, and emotional wellbeing. From spa and relaxation facilities to wellness concierge services, every aspect of the resort is crafted to enhance the human experience.

“As with all our lifestyle and property projects, we always try to push the boundaries of what is possible – at Davidson Street in Port Douglas there’ll be lagoon-facing underwater rooms, wellness facilities and our signature brand of high-end residences, culminating in a new experience that you won’t be able to get anywhere else in far north Queensland.”

Gary Hunt, Principal of Hunt Design, the lead architect behind the project, highlighted its significance, saying, “To be developed and operated by GURNER™ to the group’s exceptional standards, the project will set a new benchmark for Port Douglas while bringing new energy to local industries.”

The resort’s design principles prioritise the seamless integration of indoor and outdoor spaces, allowing residents and guests to immerse themselves in the breathtaking natural surroundings. Over 30 percent of the site will be covered in tropical landscaping, fostering a deep connection to nature.

Exploring the residential retreats

In addition to its awe-inspiring hotel accommodations, the resort will also feature a residential component that promises unparalleled luxury living. Set amidst over 5,500 square meters of private landscaped areas, the ultra-luxury homes and townhomes offer residents a retreat like no other. With seven different villa types available, residents will have the opportunity to choose a residence that suits their lifestyle and preferences.

Priced between $2.5 million and $10 million, each residence is meticulously designed to offer the utmost in comfort and sophistication. From spacious living areas to state-of-the-art amenities, every detail has been carefully considered to create a truly exceptional living experience. Residents will also have access to a range of bookable facilities, allowing them to indulge in leisure activities and wellness pursuits across the resort at their convenience.

With planning approval secured, the GURNER™ team is poised to break ground in 2025, ushering in a new era of luxury accommodation in far north Queensland.
