President Japarov explains why development of Shambesai gold deposit impossible

AKIPRESS.COM – President Sadyr Japarov said in an interview with Kabar news agency why Shambesai gold deposit would not be developed.

The holders of the license for development of Shambesai deposit said they have all permits, but residens of adjacent villages do not let them start development of the deposit, the President said.

“They claimed someone orchestrated protests among locals. I asked if they will not cause damage for the village. I told them they can work if they won’t use cyanide. Meantime, village elders asked for a meeting with me. When I listened to them, the situation appeared to be different. I decided to suspend works in order to visit the area and make the decision on the ground,” the President said.

The President visited the area in a week and saw that the deposit lies just 100 meters away from the village.

“I made the decision instantly that development of the deposit is impossible,” the President said.
