BitgetX announced on November 13, 2023, that it will cease operations in Hong Kong on December 13, 2023. The company cited business and market-related considerations as the reason for the shutdown. BitgetX said that it has decided not to pursue a Virtual Asset Trading Platform (VATP) licence in Hong Kong. The VATP licence is required for all cryptocurrency exchanges operating in Hong Kong, and they are unable to continue to provide their services in Hong Kong without a VATP license. The exchange is asking all users to withdraw their virtual assets from Bitget before December 13, 2023.
